CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF DOODLES & CONNECTION
Kendylife celebrates two decades of creativity; from humble doodles and self-printed comics to events, workshops, and mentorship. Join the journey, explore the phases, and be part of the next chapter.

#KENDYLIFETURNS20 !
In 2025, Kendylife marks an incredible milestone — 20 years of doodles, storytelling, and creative expression. What started in 2005 with just a sketchbook and a pen has grown into a journey that connects art, humor, and personal stories with people across Malaysia and beyond.
From Doodles to Community
Over the past two decades, Kendylife has grown from simple sketches and a comic blog into collaborations with artists and brands — with every doodle carrying the spirit of creativity and connection.
More Than Just Art
Kendylife today is more than drawings on paper. It’s about mentorship, workshops, and creative opportunities that inspire the next generation of artists. With two decades of lessons, experiences, and stories, Kendylife continues to share knowledge while building a supportive creative community.

TIMELINE

The year it all began: the first character, Natsuko — meaning girl born during summer and inspired by Japanese ningyo dolls; was created. Around the same time, the hobby page online was named House88kend, marking the start of a brand-new chapter.

During the blogging era, Kendy launched his first photography segment, House88kend Studios: Kendspiration, while also introducing new characters like his alter ego, Kendykun, quirky pets, and Kuma the Dragon.

A comic blog was launched on Blogspot, marking the beginning of an exciting journey.
The name Kendylife soon followed after a lecturer accidentally called Kendrick ‘Kendy.’ Embracing the slip, he renamed the blog, setting it apart from photography content and cementing its identity in the world of comics.

As Kendylife’s comics gained traction, he explored mixing doodles with photography and later ventured into digital art. A 30-day love comic proposal, though ending in rejection, became a turning point that led him to publish his works online, reaching audiences across Australia, Taiwan, and Indonesia.

These years marked a turning point for Kendylife, with the release of his first zine, collaborations with comic bloggers, and a debut in the ACG scene before a short hiatus. A highlight was being invited to represent Malaysia at an ASEAN student summit.

These three years were filled with milestones — from returning to the ACG scene and boothing at major events like Comic Fiesta, VAX, and AniManGaki, to teaming up with Christopher Tock, hosting Kendylife’s first gathering in PJ, launching the second zine, and completing a viral client project.

AniManGaki’s recommendation led to Kendylife’s first Sakura Color Malaysia collab at AMG18, which later grew into an ambassador role. That year also saw the formation of a small team—Fiona, Ivan, Leon, Chris Tock, and Ferria—marking a period of growth and collaboration.

Kendylife traveled to London, the Philippines, Vietnam, and China, while also debuting at Hobbycon & Otakyun and launching the 3rd Zine. In 2020, the 15th anniversary was celebrated with a special video by Emest Freezo Photography and a lively party featuring an Alcremie-inspired Pokémon cake from The Rolling Panda Bakery. 🎂✨

During the lockdown, Kendylife debuted as an online streamer, hosted interactive doodling at AniManGaki Online, and post COVID kendy was featured by Tourism Hong Kong, and held his first exhibition at GMBB, Kuala Lumpur.

Kendylife relocated to Tenom, Sabah, focusing on planning and re-starting the brand while giving back through workshops and social enterprise activities to inspire the next generation.

This year was defined by a stronger focus on giving back to the community, with Kendylife actively engaging in social enterprise initiatives across Sabah and Sarawak.
Another proud milestone was contributing as the cover designer for Sir_Cloud’s first esports book, marking a special moment in blending creativity with the growing esports scene.

From 2025 onward, Kendylife focuses on sharing the craft through workshops, talks, and mentorship, while expanding into digital learning and collaborations. The mission is to inspire young talents, build creative opportunities, and showcase Sabah’s culture to the world.

One of Kendylife’s signature traits is Doodle Travelling—creating small doodles inspired by experiences while exploring different places. Since 2007, he has been sharing snippets of these doodle journeys, a practice that eventually led to his appointment by Sakura Color Malaysia, thanks to his love for traditional pens and sketchbooks wherever he goes.
